Must stop eating...

coffee cake! For Easter brunch I made an egg/bread/sausage casserole and then we had yummy scones, a crumb cake that I made (out of a box but it was delicious) and then last minute I decided to try this recipe for Orange Coffee Cake that Kim from Sunshiny Days blogged about. Talk about quick, easy and tasty -- and as she recommended, I used pecans (lots) because I had them on hand and my cream cheese was past it expiration date so I skipped that! Well, we had plenty of leftovers and I've been eating coffee break for breakfast, with a cup of coffee as a mid morning snack and then as a late afternoon pick me up. ooohhhh....I am one happy gal.

Today's card features "Kevin" from Mabelle's special vintage set that is available only this month. I come from a family of brunettes so I tend to color in everyone with brown hair but I stretched myself and tried some blonde locks for this little guy. I like it! I also wasn't a 100% pleased with the color of the flower he was holding (too dark) so I tried a little trick I'd read about...colored pencils over markers! I used my white pencil just at the edge and it really gave it some dimension. I used the color pencil too for the skin color.

Card Materials:

Stamps:
Papers: Lilly Anna cardstock, DCWV green #1, an old page from a book!
Accessories: buttons, bic markers, colored pencils, scrapper's floss

Coloring Mabelle's Style!

I was just tickled with Mabelle posted a link to her blog when during one of my Serendipity "sneak peaks" here, I talked about my love (and growing collection!) of Mabelle RO stamps featured by The Angel Company - they are the R coded stamps sprinkled through out. I have seen some of Mabelle's finished artwork in the past but you will be blown away by the samples she has posted of her latest stamps from Serendipity! I can't promise you'll become a "mini-Mabelle", but hopefully, like me, you'll pick up some great color combos and shading/coloring techniques! Enjoy her blog and I hope you like my card here! It's very simple but I wanted the little girl to steal the show...

Be sure to visit The Angel Company's homepage - they've updated it with more goodies, including a new Downloads section!! How cool is that!?!
