Week 2 of Sketches

This week The Angel Company is featuring a new sketch and you are welcome and encouraged to play along! I combined this sketch with the challenge over at Copic Creations to work in a sky using copics and one of their tutorials. This is my second try at it and it's not quite right yet but I'm sure with some practice, I'll get better - I hope?!?

These are two retiring sets from The Angel Company and they are on sale right now so it's a good time to get them - it's your last chance plus the price is right.



It's hard to see in the photo but I embossed the green panel with a Fiskars leaf embossing plate and then rubbed over the raised images with Chartreuse Palette ink. The papers are from the Die Cuts with a View pack...and I have to say I grab for this set, Ordinary Greetings. 99% of the time! I stamped the words Bravo twice so that it would fit the panel better, but I really like how it looks/sounds as well.

I'd like to give a shout out of thanks to Michelle over at Purple Onion Designs...I won some blog candy last week and I really appreciate it. She was very generous and always wraps things so beautifully!

Green Banner

Banners are EVERYWHERE!! And, I have to admit that I love them. I used my see through centering ruler and made a template out of cardstock for this banner...then I grabbed some green DP and went to work.



The saying is retired but I thought it went with the fun nature of this card. The little monkey is colored with Copics and is from the set: Monkey Business. I used a small die from CB for the flowers and after I squished them a bit, I put a dot of black stickles in the center of each.

Well, I have to get going...it's 3:30 and I haven't even begun to clean house. I think it will be one of those days were the bathrooms get done and a little vaccuming. Monkey Business

I have a new Valentine stamp on order from The Angel Company but I wanted to dig around in my "stash" and get inspired to make valentines with what I had on hand in the meantime. I hand cut this heart and stitched it on. I thought this monkey would make a cute valentine... I hope you think so too!

I loved coloring this little guy with my copics...it was so much easier than in the past because I could get the shading just right on his face. I only regret not pulling out my alpha stamps to stamp out the word SWAK...I have one somewhere...but alas I hand wrote it and I have bad, bad handwriting. Hm...now I know where my son gets it!

More snow!!

It's really unbelievable at this point...I'm getting a nice strong back and arms from shoveling to go along with my big tummy from over eating while we're snowed in! tee hee...

Just a quick share since everyone is home today...I was at a discount store (Ross) the other day that sells mostly clothes but I discovered that they had paper too!! And it was glorious paper and cheap. But you know me and paper so I put all but one pad back - and I felt quite proud of myself! This package would work perfectly for making cards for sick children...I've been feeling a tug to make cards for them as well as soldiers. So the other day, Lois, Julie and I really had a good time together. Here's a sampling of what we accomplished...and may I state that Julie is able to create 10 cards in the time Lois and I make 4!! Amazing...

Hang In There!

Here is a simple card to let someone know that you are thinking about them. I wanted the words to pop out (there's a lot of white space in the center) and I goofed the first time when I tried stamping them out just in green. I think my "mistake" turned out to be a good thing!

I feel like I could use this card myself right about now! Anyone else with a 13 year old daughter? I love her dearly but am trying to figure her out - she's so different from me when I was growing up. But I guess times are different now too. Here she is helping watch my nephew during a recent get together with my sister's family - Stephanie is always a big help and getting good grades so all is not lost!

SC226 Challenge

wowser, I'm on a roll! I had a chance to play along with the Wednesday card challenge over on SCS and used one of my new stamp sets for this. I just kept thinking of the saying, "I love you this much!" when I saw this little monkey with his arms stretched out so wide...I typed it up on the computer, found a font I liked, printed it on regular paper and then taped a small piece of cardstock on top of my test piece and re printed it out. Super easy!

Guess what?! I also hand cut the flower around the scalloped saying. I've really been drawn to those rough, hand made looking flowers I've seen about in the past month or so and finally tried my hand at them. Now mind you...I have oodles of store bought flowers (paper and felt), fake blossoms that I pull off the stems to use, die cuts AND punches. Can you relate?! tee hee....
