One year "better" - sure...

Yikes...it's my birthday!! I wanted to share my celebration with you and so I'm offering some blog candy - it'll be open until Sunday, midnight, and just leave me a comment about what your family does as a special birthday tradition. In our house, we creep into the dark bedroom of whom ever is celebrating their birthday (in our home only, of course, don't worry!!) early in the morning with the cake and the bright, bright flames of the birthday candles, singing Happy Birthday. What a way to wake up! Early in our marriage my husband used trick candles for me -some of my hair ended up catching on fire and then in desperation he threw the candles into our faux marble bathroom sink, only for the sink to get singed. The kids loved to hear the story over and over...

In a few days it's also my Dad's birthday and I used the Wednesday sketch challenge on SCS to get me started. This uses the Penelope cardstock and patterned paper from TAC, as well as our Kraft paper! I even decorated the inside of the card...luckily they love what ever card I make for them. :)

Lastly, I'm so appreciative of the love and support I've received from you since my last post...from those of you who commented, sent me emails or said a quiet prayer, it means a lot.

Good Morning Sunshine & Happy, Happy Birthday!

I love your story!

We do different things for each kid, mainly because we can't remember from each bday to the next.

Our oldest boy is an April FOol's baby so his bday is usually a blast! I am always doing some type of practical joke on him.

ANyways, Happy Bday Chris!

XO
Awna

Happy Birthday Chris!

We don't have any traditions yet. My daughter's birthday is Christmas day, and she is only 2, so we'll definitely have to come up with some!

I love your birthday tradition! It sounds hilarious!

Happy Birthday!!. OUr Tradition is to bake a special cake for that person and have a theme party around it. For my sons Birthday we made a elmo cake. For my husband I made a computer chip cake since he loves computers. For my last birthday my husband made me a haunted house cake since I love Halloween. I love making it from come because it comes from the heart.

I'm a bit late but I hope you have had a nice day.

We invite family and friends for our birthday and we ask them to come in the afternoon and than we make a buffet for everyone so we can have dinner together. We always do a theme, last time we did Italian and the one before that we made Mexican.

Happy Birthday Chris! That story is hilarious about your husbands trick candles :)
Our tradition for birthdays is that rather than getting our kids more "stuff" we have them pick what they want to do on their birthday as their gift. So they get to pick the meal and an activity like going to the park, zoo, Chuck-e-cheese, whatever they would like to do. It makes memories rather than creating more stuff in our house and they feel pretty special getting to choose something for the whole family :)

Happy Birthday!!! Birthday tradition in my family is for the birthday person to choose somewhere to go out to eat or what they want for their birthday meal.

Hi Chris,
Happy Birthday!
In our family the birthday person is taken out to dinner to the place of his/her choice. It is a bit more difficult now that our son is at university but we try to make it work.

Happy Birthday, Chris.

My oldest daughter was born on July 3rd and we live on a lake so since her birthday is so close to July 4th we always have a big family get together for cake. Her celebration sometimes goes on for days....LOL.
