Just add a flower...

I saw a challenge that I could enter over on Just Add Ink...I love flowers and am so sad to say goodbye to these two sets: Flowers and Holly and Give Praise to Him. This was a perfect time to use them again.

Fabulous February - Fundamental Frames

One of my most favorite stamp sets is Fundamental Frames...I love that it can be used in so many ways! Today I used it as the focal piece and a backdrop. If you check out what Yuki did over on the Savvy Projects Blog, you will see how she was really thinking outside of the box...or as I teased her, outside of the FRAME!

For this card I clear embossed one of the frames on white cardstock and then colored and cut my flower out to pop on top. I used the Script stamp in Charcoal Grey Palette ink and then used Versamark one more time on the Damask Backgrounder... My pink in the flower was a bit odd because I grabbed what I thought were three pinks in a color family but my lightest was more purple in hue...luckily it matched the pink from Toodle Loo perfectly!

I used a Nestabilities to cut out my frame...



I have been creating up a storm during this You Make February Fabulous, and I've pulled out stamps that have never seen ink...so I'm extremely happy to finally give them some love! That's the case for this Little Bird stamp set. I colored her in with copics and then embossed the Fundamental Frame with Claret Palette ink and Transcendence Embossing Powder (this powder lets you emboss with dye inks - incredible!). This time, I hand cut the frame out so you always have that option if you don't have Nestabilities...



I tied my frame off with some Scrapper's Floss for some extra interest and popped it up over the Mia's Cottage Soar with it Collection. This card came together in my head as I laid in bed the night before and I was thrilled when it turned out just as I had envisioned it. Phew!




I love this saying...We sang the song, "His Eye is on the Sparrow" at my wedding and sadly the first time I ever sang it was at a child's funeral years earlier. What a blessing though that in all phases of our lives He watches over us and LOVES us!

Last week I had tried playing with my new Copics and failed (went way outside the edges and just couldn't blend for the life of me!). Well, I blamed my paper but since found out that my paper was fine - darn, it was me that was the problem!

I watched Cindy Lawerence on two YouTube tutorials and then our power went out...so, there was nothing else to do but practice! And, this was my next attempt...grab sunglasses, it's bright!

I colored the background blue because just a snitch of one petal went out the lines...I need more practice...

This weekend I was busy making Concord Grape Jam. My neighbor gave me 17 pounds of grapes and it took me two batches of full stock pots to cook it all down. I ended up with 12 jars of jam - had to buy the sugar, surejell and chinois you see in the background...so I could've bought these for the cost to make them but the sheer joy of making it your self is PRICELESS! (I use that same thought process when buying stamps...tee hee)

When I saw Kim's card over on the Paperwings Gallery, I knew I had to make one too! She was so kind to let me use it as a make n take project for my Open House last week. I love Kim's style and her gallery if full of wonderful creations!

Flower Garden

I just love summer when all of my plants are in full bloom. Sure there are lots of weeds competing with them, but I'm waiting on the rains to soften the dirt - that's my excuse for not weeding (rain is in the forecast!).





And with summer, it's a great time to use those flower stamps! On this card I started playing around with Copic markers. Now that TAC is carrying them in small color friendly families, I've finally broken my resolve and am giving them a try. I really went out of the edge on this sunflower so I ended up cutting it out - couldn't waste it! I need lots of practice but it was fun to try. I do find pencils or watercoloring is much easier...

Back to Normal

Well our vacation to the beach is over, the catalog is out and life is almost back to "normal"...but that's okay. Here's a card I made using Tombow markers to watercolor my flower. I really love that look. And, I really love to use gamsol and colored pencils...so why am I toying with breaking down and getting COPICS? argh... Our latest catalog has some tempting color palettes and I may just start with one of those first, to "dabble" with them.

Back to the card. I love the tone on tone base layers. And that green strip is from the Sands of Time paper. That's a great collection because it has papers that can be either very feminine or masculine...and even neutral.

Pretty in Pink

hm...I tried a couple of titles for this post and none seemed to work. This flower from Flowers and Holly set (which has been around forever - and I just got it finally last year!!) is wonderful to watercolor. I tried to make a real vintage feeling card by stamping the pink cardstock with an image from Vintage Backgrounds (out of the new Serendipity magalogue). I covered some black embossed spots (that were not supposed to be there!) with the image from Fanciful Vintage, which is the Stamp of the Month so it's on sale!

I did some more watercoloring with my Tombow markers and aquabrush...the pinks match much better in real life, honestly! :)

I still have company so this is one more short and sweet post! All supplies (except for the lace which is from Joanns) are from The Angel Company.

eeck! I won in The Angel Company's latest Card to Crop contest so my two items are featured over in the Creative Corner on their website. It's so exciting. I know the layouts are quite simple but the coloring on my sunflowers actually came out nicely...and how can you go wrong with this paper?! Today was a Lucille Ball type of morning...am I dating myself with that comparison? My son was all out of clean jeans and the pair in the dryer were still too damp to wear (at least for winter - if it were summer I'd say they'll dry fast! tee hee)...so, there I stood, with 5 minutes to go, a hairdryer stuck in the pockets to spot dry them...they were carpenter pants so they had lots of wet pockets! After I got him to school, it was time to feed the chickens. The neighbor had brought me a pumpkin bread last week...not like my yummy muffins I blogged about, I'm sorry to say. It was one of those dense, heavy brick like breads - which only got worse as it sat in my refrigerator. Perfect treat for the chickens! As I broke it up for them and threw it into their pen, one escaped (she spotted a worm outside the coop, how could I deny her that?!) but when I went to catch her and put her back in, I got feathers stuck all over my hands from the stickiness of the pumpkin bread! What a mess...and what a morning!
