Masculine Valentine

Let's face it, it's hard to make just the right Valentine for a guy...sure, I love to add hearts and lace and dangling keys - but those details are just wasted on my dear hubby!

So, this one might just do the trick. I bought a book with this pattern for a envelope card probably 5 years ago - maybe more! That's how long I've been wanting to give it a try. I finally sat down, copied the pattern, and voila! It's really pretty easy and its so unique that it really makes an impression.

Here are some tricks I learned along the way...

I used a long strip of masking tape to mark one of the grooves on the scor pal...it made it easier not to accidently skip a groove and get on the wrong track when I was scoring a long section.

Another important tip. Don't line up the edge of the paper with the edge of the groove. Instead, center the edge of the paper in the center of the groove - this ensures that your score line lays properly for the fold, otherwise it's too far out. I hope that makes sense!

I also discovered (yup, it took me a few steps to get here!) that I could lay and tape all the layers down and then just cut them all at once with my nestabilities...it need a little snip in the two corners with scissors because 3 layers is pushing it but it worked!

My dog is stamped on patterned paper, I colored in the heart with a colored pencil and then cut him out. Quick and easy!

From the Heart Blog Hop!

Another blog hop from The Angel Company has snuck up on me but I hope you'll have time to play along because there will be one lucky, random winner in each category: Angel and Fan!

This month the theme is From the Heart...

Luckily my new Bad to the Bone stamp set just came in and I quickly cut it out and inked it up. I'm thinking this could be a masculine card because I used a lot of black and just a touch of pink...what do you think?

A few little details like glossy accents and the scorbug to give it some umpf!

My daughter asked my how did "Bad to the Bone" have anything to do with valentines? I told her, "you know -- you're bad, very bad" and chuckled. She just gave me this ewwww, gross, you're too old to think like that look. sigh... oh well. I thought it was funny!

I hope you'll have a chance to play along and here are all the other entries to inspire you!
