Get Well Little One

The Toodle Loo Soar with it Collection is definately a kids' themed paper but the colors are oh so wonderful so I often grab it for adult cards too. But, in this case, I think this would be a super get well card for a child and I want to look into sending cards to sick little ones. (Right now a group of gals and I make cards for the wounded soldiers but with having so many kid stamps in my collection, because it's a worthy cause!, and it seems that I keep seeing the idea pop up on various blogs and SCS - so it must be an "echo" prompting me to go in that direction)

It really is quite a simple card - I didn't feel like lugging out my sewing machine this week so I grabbed my Running Stitches stamp set, after all, that's what it's for! I colored this little bear with Prismacolored pencils and gamsol and then cut him out so that I could pop him on the white embossed panel - a trick I learned from the talented Chris Olsen!

Card Materials: all stamps and paper from The Angel Company
Stamps: English Everyday Cuties, Running Stitches
Accessories: Toodle Loo Soar with it Collection and cardstock, ribbon, CB embossing plate, nestabilities oval scallop

I hope you have a great weekend - the kids are home today and on Monday and I'm sure I will be like a taxi cab all weekend! Don't forget that there are only a few days left in January to take advantage of the Stamp of the Month specials (I just can't believe January has passed by in a blurr!)

Congratulations

My niece just graduated from collage so I whipped up this card using some of the new stamps from Serendipity -- which is now live and online! woo hoo! The most amazing part is that The Angel Company did a ROLL BACK on prices and that's a very good thing!I can't wait to hear what you think - but, I digress. :)

I'm sure you've seen these layered flowers everywhere...and I should've gone with 5 layers instead of just 3 for a fuller look. I did ink the edges! The Catalynne paper pack stole the show and I used my hand held sewing machine for a very sloppy stitch around the edges.

Card Materials all supplies from The Angel Company
Stamps: Fabulous Frames, Savvy Sayings
Accessories: Catalynne paper, scrappers floss, flower punch

And don't forget - tomorrow is the last day to order our retiring stamps, and they are 40% off!

Valentine Blog Hop

Welcome to probably the largest Angel Blog Hop yet...and why not? I mean who doesn't love Valentines? I remember making home made valentines with my mom and now making them with my own children...ah, the memories!

Sometimes you may not have a strictly Valentine-y stamp set but that's okay...here's my version of a non traditional image from Everyday Events. Sticking with red paper helps but I love this little "XOXO" saying from the My Journey stamp set - it really gets the message across.

I used my Scor Pal to emboss the lines and then used my sanding block lightly over the red paper (it's textured and from the Bright DCVW pack). I love the punch the black and white gingham ribbon gives it!

If you want to give someone a special treat for Valentine's Day, here is a little milk carton box sure to delight anyone! I orginally found the pattern here but needed some modifications so my talented friend Juliet redesigned it for me!

When you click on this it will open up and you can print full size

Supplies to decorate this box are from The Angel Company and include: More Mimi Soar with it Collection and matching Bazzil cardstock, Lemonaid Buttons and Flowers, Scrappers Floss (the clip is since retired and the felt is stuff I had and I just cut out a heart free hand). Here too I used some little words from the My Journey stamp set. It's a "must have", I tell you!

Please be sure to visit these talented ladies...it's sure to get your heart pumping!

Thanks to Stacy over at Paperwings for putting this all together.

New Spellbinder Goodies!

You may have heard the rumour that The Angel Company started carrying Spellbinder Nestabilities and Impressabilities...well, it's true!!

For the following card I used the Flourishes plate and it gives a beautiful, subtle embossing to the cardstock. (If you are familiar with Cuttlebug embossing folders, they are not as deeply etched as those). What is especially interesting is that you can cut these apart so it really adds to embossing possibilities!

The Spellbinder Labels sets we are carrying are: 1, 3, 4, 5 9, and the Large Labels. They are nicely priced at $25.95 and if you are ever a hostess, this would be an excellant half priced item!

To compliment these new products...the Wizard has made it into our catalog as the Die Cut and Embossing machine we'll now carry. Another EXCELLANT reason to be a hostess!!

So with all of this exciting talk about Spellbinders it's only natural that I used our Fabulous Frames set which fit perfectly with the Labels dies. :)

I hope you'll join me on Monday for a Valentine's Treats blog hop...I think we have a record number of Angels participating and I can't wait to see all of the fabulous ideas!

PS. I've shipped out most of my new Serendipity magalogues...I've only got about 10 left so if you want one, let me know soon!

Beautiful Day...farewell

Today is not necessarily a "beautiful day" (we had an ice rain this morning and I have a bad cold) but I just love this stamp set that will be retiring from The Angel Company on 28 January. The saying reminds us to make each day a beautiful day!

I hope you will appreciate that I dragged out my sewing machine to add the final touches to this card that was heavily inspired by atomicbutterfly over on SCS. The scraps of paper come from TAC's Angelee Soar with it Collection...to those of you who are fans of inking edges (and you know who you are!) I did that on the sheet music as well as the focal image.

Card Materials: all papers and stamps from The Angel Company
Stamps: Beautiful Day
Accessories: Angelee Soar with it Collection and cardstock, sheet music from when I was 13!, button and flowers also from TAC (Lemonade Buttons and Blossoms), scrappers floss, palette ink, nestablities (which we are now carrying too!)

In case you haven't checked out Beautiful Day before...it's now marked down to $13.17 and will only be available through next week. (sniff, sniff)

Thanks for visiting today and I hope you have a beautiful and happy day!

Finally!

Finally we are having a bit of a warmer weather spell and finally, a card I really like!

Last month I earned a package of Reece Soar with it Collection from The Angel Company, so I was eager to play with it. Typically my cards are just one or two simple layers, but I took the time to study how others use multi layers and matting to come up with this card. I'm really thrilled with the results!

I used the script from Vintage Santa (minus the snowflake side) to make the strip of green background paper and the flower was a craft store find (99 cents for a "stalk") and the felt bird was from Big Lots...I used some walnut ink to darken it just a bit.

Card Materials: all stamps and papers from The Angel Company
Stamps: Savvy Sayings, Vintage Santa
Accessories: Reece Soar with it Collection and cardstock, ribbon from Pink Hedgehog, MS border punch, felt bird Big Lots, fake flower, Palette ink

Did you know that each Soar with it Collection has one full sheet of tags? Here is one of them and the new set, Savvy Sayings fit inside perfectly! I hope you aren't getting tired of all of these sneak peeks!

My pre-order of Serenditpity magalogues arrives today! If you already contacted me for your copy, I'll be mailing them out tomorrow! Don't miss out on my "I want it all" catalogue special where you get all 3 issues for just $10! That's in the US but I do ship out of the country so be sure to contact me for your special price...

Toot, Toot!

If you are short on time and don't have the chance to really sit and color, this stamp set could be for you! Offering three different styles of fun cars and even cuter sayings, I found this made a one layer card in 10 minutes (or less!). And, because I had lots of time left over, I even took a moment to decorate the inside (gasp, I know!!) :)

Outside: Some ric rac ribbon and little pearls add a little "extra" to the card...I stenciled the clouds. (sorry for the dark picture - it was cloudy and I've been working the last 3 days so I've been missing any chance for sunshine!)

Inside: The row of flowers is from Linear Sentiments but the rest of the images are from a new set coming out 1 February!

Don't miss out on these goodies (clickable) that will be only available in January (can you believe the month is already half over? Didn't we just celebrate the New Year?!?)

Hello for all Seasons

Today I have two cards to share...using a sneak peak set that at first left me with a "hmmm..." feeling. But once inked up, I saw this had lots of possiblities!

Please tell me that this says "hello" to you...my daughter thought otherwise. The original Hello includes an "O" (have no fear!) but I cut it off and just left the flower from the set to fill in...I used the Miss Moxie Soar with it Collection from The Angel Company.

This second card features the heart from the Hello for all Seasons set which I just stamped on some Uptown Girl paper and cut out. The saying is also a new stamp set coming out from The Angel Company but I have to look up the name...I'm just really really nervous and rushed right now BECAUSE I got my first phone call to substitute teach (Kindergarteners!) and I have to run out the door in 5 min. I'm shaking, I tell you! eeck...wish me luck!

EDITED: The words come from Savvy Sayings! And, I had a great day with the little kids ~ it turns out I'll be back in the classroom on Thursday and Friday with them. woo hoo...stamping money! :)

Wonder and Joy

I have not yet jumped on the copic bandwagon (you see my problem with papers, I really do NOT need one more coloring medium!!) but I did pick up a package of 24 assorted BIC markers and so when I feel like coloring "bold", they work pretty well. By waiting for the first layer to dry, you can just come back in with the same color to add a deeper shade. Since I don't have a skin tone (and that's where I may break down and get a copic or two to round it all out...) I've used Prismacolored pencils.

Just a very simple card using the new set from The Angel Company, Wonder and Joy...the new Serendipity magalogue hits the streets on 1 February and I'm taking preorders for it now!

Card Materials
: all stamps and papers from The Angel Company

Stamps: Wonder and Joy
Accessories: Lilly Anna Soar with it Collection and cardstock, BIC markers, colored pencil/gamsol, corner rounder, Crystal Lacquer on the balloon

Thanks for all of the great ideas to deal with my paper "issues"...some of them really made me laugh too! But, let me announce the winner of my Paper Packs blog candy...

So congrats to Melissa W! If you send me your mailing address, I'll get these two paper packs out to you tomorrow.

Paper Hoarding...

I "suspected" I had a problem, but no more so than anyone else! Right? Wrong! This week my friend Julie stopped by and we stamped some cards to send to wounded soldiers. She just had a new craftroom "redesign" and was shocked at how much stuff she had accumulated...it was inspiring to Lois and I to clean up and clean out. I stamp in my tiny laundry room so space is tight and I've migrated to hidden corners of the house. When I got my new dryer (which I am trying to learn to use after 17 years with my old one...sniff, sniff), I thought that was the time to purge and clean up my space as well.

Here are the 8 paper stashes I came across!
My homemade 12x12 hanging folders...holds mostly Basic Grey, the old DCWV printed paper that I should just throw away, and other misc. papers that I picked up along the way on sale at the craft store.
My Soar with it Collections from The Angel Company...plus some brand new 8x8 paper packs. One of the containers holds the My Minds Eye paper from Costco...I really think it multiplies when I turn off the lights!
oops! Almost forgot about this stash of Bazzill paper hidden on my bookshelf...it matches the Soar with it Collections from TAC...
A drawer full of Bazzill monochromatic paper packs and other assorted mini paper packs I've picked up.
DCWV 12 x 12 paper packs and some retired packs from The Angel Company...
Some of the 8x8 paper packs & scraps from TAC and smaller DCWV packs...
My color coordinated scraps...all sizes because I don't throw anything away "just in case" - that is going to STOP!!
And my last and final container that I always forget to even check because it's under other things...I think I can safely just throw it away and I won't even miss it!!

If you are not to exhausted (or sickened by this point!), here's my card to share...my nephew's birthday was yesterday - I've had it made a week and just never wrote it out or mailed it. So, I whipped out the saying last night, "whoo knew?!" and on the inside it says, "this birthday wish would be so late?!" tee hee...

I love this owl set from The Angel Company...they also have Artsy Owls that are totally different in style and have amazing branches in the set! These papers actually came out of my accordian scrap file folder so I do use them!

PS. My New Year's resolution made yesterday: No new paper until I make a serious dent into all of this ... and no more saving scraps less than 2x3" !! (I keep thinking I'll make candles out of those long, skinny pieces left over - honestly!)

Blog Candy time! Leave me your paper storage tips by Sunday, 10 Jan (midnight) and I will draw a winner for two 8x8 paper packs from The Angel Company. :)

I'm on top of the world!

I can't tell you what a thrill it was to see my creation on the homepage of The Angel Company!! I know, I know - it's just a snowflake with some chipboard and stamping but to me...well, I'm tickled pink!!

I wanted to share a quick card I made yesterday...using something new and something old! Did you know that we will be carrying Nestabilities and rubber stamps to match?! Here's my first sample using one of them (Fabulous Frames) and the bird/saying is from my favorite set (which will be gone after 1 Feb), Beautiful Day. You can find all of the retiring Serendipty stamps on sale here.

It's another simple card - but I hoped the embossed tone on tone, scalloped edge and embossed black panel makes it a bit more "wow" than just cardstock slapped together! I always am envious of those talented stampers that make any card look special versus mine which may tend to look like a 10 year old could've made it! tee hee...

Hope you have a great mid-week. I'm off to decorate the bulletin boards at church. This afternoon we're getting a new dryer delivered - I am hoping I made the right choice. It's crazy that picking a dryer could be so nerve wracking but we've had the last one for 17 years and I debated getting it repaired vs. buying a new one. ugh! I'd rather be stamping!! :)

Cold and Flu Season...

It's that time of the year when someone you know will probably get sick...I know we've been battling different things in our household! This would be the perfect card to cheer them up and let them know you are thinking of them!

I used the soon-to-be-released English Everyday Cuties from The Angel Company's Spring Magalogue and, the Fruitti Fusion paper pack which is on sale for just $2!! You can see all of the special sales right here.

Card Materials: all stamps, papers (Fruitti Fusion and DCWV Brights), button and scrappers floss from The Angel Company

I hope that you have a healthy January...in fact, make that the whole year!

A New Year and new stamps!

Today I finally had a chance to sneak in some stamping but I have to admit, it was a bit rushed. I'm not that happy with my coloring but I wanted to give you a taste of this sweet new set, English Everyday Cuties that will be in the new Spring Magalogue - to be released 1 Feb.

After botching up the cupcake wrapper, I quickly did some paper piecing (always a solution to bad coloring!) and the Running Stitches stamp set from The Angel Company finished it all off by adding that little detail. This is a 15 minute card - perfect if you are rushing to beat the mailman!

Congratulations to Debbie G in Wyoming - you won my $25 in free stamps raffle!

Hope all of you had a wonderful and safe New Years - and that this year of "20 - 10" or " Two thousand and ten" will be one filled with blessings for you!
