Christmas in July

This week The Angel Company has been celebrating Christmas in July and it's been a lot of fun to see what the DT has come up - boy are they creative! Check out all the fun ideas here on Savvy Projects blog.

I followed that theme with one of my projects from yesterday's Open House - thanks again to everyone who stopped by! I used 3 different, non Christmasy stamp sets to make up this cute little gift pouch. How easy it would be to change the colors though and make it the perfect gift wrap for any occasion. (Size: this is just one half of regular cardstock cut the long ways)

Materials: All stamps and papers from The Angel Company
Stamps: Fabulous Frames, Running Stitches, Damask Backgrounder
Paper: Kraft, Olive and Scarlet Cardstock (you've really got to feel this paper to appreciate it!)

This second mini card is stamp lifted from Mischelle's blog when she used Hope Perches for her Retiform card. I fell in love with the card and used her focal point for my mini card version (and in real life, my greens do match!! sigh...

Juliet changed it up once more and created these two lovely mini cards...I had to snap a picture before she left with them!

Easter Treats

I can hardly believe Easter is just around the corner! My daughter's birthday is in two days and I'm not even ready for that!! sigh...

During Halloween I made these little pencil/candy stix treat pouches using file folders. They are a bit narrow though so this time around, I thought why not just make them wider? Perfect!

And I just love the way Running Stitches looks embossed in white ink and white powder. It makes a huge difference and it totally looks like it's been sewn with a machine!

I was totally inspired on these colors from one of the gals in my Hostess Club, Kristi! I'll share our cards during my next post...but he's covered with a clear gel glaze pen and in real life it really adds so much.

Stamps: Running Stitches, I Love Easter

Don't miss this months' specials. The Stamp of the Month is a must have and if you love country, the jar and paper set is for you! We've also got a really cool eyelet special going on right now! Find the details in my side bar or shoot me an email!

One more Cupcake Cutie!

Did you know that you can actually win a prize for playing along with the daily blog hops going over at The Angel Company? There was already one lucky winner for last week, and each week Mischelle will be drawing a random winner from all of the cards entered! Check out all the fun going-ons over at the Savvy Projects Blog!

I had a little extra time yesterday and started coloring my kitty with Prismacolored pencils and gamsol. The Catelynne papers were all scraps I had laying around...beneath the kitty I had actually punched out a snowflake from the blue paper. :) I stamped Running Stitches in Brilliance Moon White and embossed it with white powder because I didn't feel like dragging out my sewing machine. The flower is from the In Bloom Blossoms and Buttons collection - tied off with some scrapper's floss! And did you notice that tiny little pearl in the flower? Definately a "girl" card!

Thanks for visiting me today - I've gotta run! I finally have my car back from the shop after two weeks...

New stamps

I've really enjoyed playing with some of my new stamps from the Fall Supplement...it goes live on 1 Oct and I'm mailing out copies TODAY! woo hoo... That also means that you only have one more day to take advantage of the September specials. The stamp grab bags have been a big hit and I have now seen the $10 accessory bags (which are flying off the shelf and won't be around long, the owner told us) and they are incredible.

Some of the Wing It paper collections are set up almost for a scrapbook page ... so I happened to have some pretty retired paper left over that I just never knew what to do with. The other day it hit me - cut the corners and layer them on a card. Okay, why did it take me 5 years to have this revelation?

This card has more details than my normal card, I know, but once I got started, one thing led to the next. I will say that that little black spot between the two nestie labels is an ANT! I had seen it walking off the card when I snapped my photo but didn't notice him/her in the picture until just now. :)

Card Materials: all stamps and papers from The Angel Company
Stamps: Cuddly Christmas, Running Stitches
Accessories: Scarlet TAC paper, DCWV, retired Wing It holiday paper (Let's start a campaign to bring this one back!), Cuttle bug embossing strips, nestabilities, white paint marker, green Making Memories staple, copics

By the way...the Fall Supplement? Very cool. There are no samples but this is still a quality issue and those of you who like "cute" won't be disappointed and those of you who have been asking for more realistic type stamps...you will be pleasantly surprised! I'm mailing my copies out for a special price of $2.50 - email me if you'd like a copy.

Baseball and stamping?!?

Tonight is the last official game of our baseball season - woo hoo!! I just wanted to share a few of the photos...and show you how I still managed to work in some stamping.

Here is my son getting to pitch...

Here I am at a practice - cutting out some stamps! I always use this time to browse through stamping magazines for ideas or cut stamps.

As team mom, I was in charge of the banner and I just could not see ordering a vinyl one for over $100 when I could make a felt one for $20!

I used the running stitches stamp set from The Angel Company for the individual baseballs.

Hope you have a great and safe weekend, and, if you live in the US: Happy Memorial Day!

Get Well Little One

The Toodle Loo Soar with it Collection is definately a kids' themed paper but the colors are oh so wonderful so I often grab it for adult cards too. But, in this case, I think this would be a super get well card for a child and I want to look into sending cards to sick little ones. (Right now a group of gals and I make cards for the wounded soldiers but with having so many kid stamps in my collection, because it's a worthy cause!, and it seems that I keep seeing the idea pop up on various blogs and SCS - so it must be an "echo" prompting me to go in that direction)

It really is quite a simple card - I didn't feel like lugging out my sewing machine this week so I grabbed my Running Stitches stamp set, after all, that's what it's for! I colored this little bear with Prismacolored pencils and gamsol and then cut him out so that I could pop him on the white embossed panel - a trick I learned from the talented Chris Olsen!

Card Materials: all stamps and paper from The Angel Company
Stamps: English Everyday Cuties, Running Stitches
Accessories: Toodle Loo Soar with it Collection and cardstock, ribbon, CB embossing plate, nestabilities oval scallop

I hope you have a great weekend - the kids are home today and on Monday and I'm sure I will be like a taxi cab all weekend! Don't forget that there are only a few days left in January to take advantage of the Stamp of the Month specials (I just can't believe January has passed by in a blurr!)

A New Year and new stamps!

Today I finally had a chance to sneak in some stamping but I have to admit, it was a bit rushed. I'm not that happy with my coloring but I wanted to give you a taste of this sweet new set, English Everyday Cuties that will be in the new Spring Magalogue - to be released 1 Feb.

After botching up the cupcake wrapper, I quickly did some paper piecing (always a solution to bad coloring!) and the Running Stitches stamp set from The Angel Company finished it all off by adding that little detail. This is a 15 minute card - perfect if you are rushing to beat the mailman!

Congratulations to Debbie G in Wyoming - you won my $25 in free stamps raffle!

Hope all of you had a wonderful and safe New Years - and that this year of "20 - 10" or " Two thousand and ten" will be one filled with blessings for you!

Sigh, this will be my last week of sponsoring Card Patterns (may I insert, of the year?! Who knows what lies ahead in 2010!!) so be sure to hop on over there and play along for a chance to win a free stamp set from me.

I also will have some blog candy going on here too...just in time for Christmas! Just leave a comment by midnight of 12 Dec for a chance to win these two sets...I love those snowmen. They didn't show up on the retired list but they weren't in the catalog this year so I am hoping they will make a reappearance. To see them in "action", check out my two posts here. So cute!

Here is my sympathy card, "re do". I know it's bright but I'm hoping it will cheer Linda up when she receives it...and, I followed the Card Patterns sketch!

Holiday Jump

Last post featured a winter card and now I'm back to Halloween! This morning my hostess club met for a fun little project that I spotted by Heather, over at Pine is Here. I immediately drove over to our Staples in search of kraft file folders and found them - a 100! (So, if you live in the area and you need some -- let me know!)

It was a quick and easy project and I "cheated" by using Running Stitches to stamp my sewing machine lines...a touch of glue on the inside and it was done! Juliet thought Slim Jims would be a perfect touch and Heather displayed them with Pixie Stiks inside...what yumminess!

All stamps are from The Angel Company.

And while we are talking about Halloween treats, The Angel Company just announced a special for both customers and Hostesses...the following two sets are just $13.95 each with a $30 order or a hostess can earn one for free during Double Rewards. This special is available ONLY from 17 - 30 Sep!

Ode to Summer

I had a great trip with the kids to Splashdown waterpark in Manassas, VA...only, I forgot my camera! oh well... instead I'm going to bring back some of my favorite Gerbera Daisy cards that I made a long time ago. I still love them and the Gerbera Daisy stamp set continues to be offered at a great price from The Angel Company. I think it's probably one of their best sellers!

This must have been my "blue" phase...

The stamps on this card are also from The Angel Company and include: Running Stitches and Squiggle Ladybugs. Images are colored in with colored pencils and gamsol.

Are your kiddos back in school already?! We have just over a week and then it starts up for us here. The Angel Company came out with the cutest, FREE download and just in time for the start of school. You definately should check it out! http://www.theangelcompany.net/Downloads_SchoolLabels.html

CPS Sponsor - Part 3

I can hardly believe that I am half way through my week of sponsoring the card sketch over at the Card Positioning Systems (CPS) blog. I have really enjoyed going to see everyone’s take on the sketch and I can’t wait to find out who will be the lucky winner of the stamp set, Life is Short. It’s got some really neat sayings that are perfect for both scrapbookers and cardmakers. If you haven't heard about my offer yet, you may pick out a free jar of Stickles with just a $30 order (and The Angel Company throws in a free stamp!) but you must email me with your order...

My take on the sketch today is a bit more true to form. Sewing machine stitching is so popular right now, and the Running Stitches from The Angel Company makes it quick. I don’t have to worry about hauling out my Husqvarna sewing machine that is currently wedged between the organ and a wall, covered by countless Lego boxes! The card itself is really easy. I wanted the beautiful papers from the Soar with It Collection to take the main stage and so I just embossed my elephant to give it a little “umph”. Did you know that we carry TRANSCENDENCE POWDER which allows you to emboss with Palette inks?

Card Materials:
Stamps:
Take Pride, Running Stitches
Papers: Hemingway Soar with it Collection and cardstock
Accessories: twine, embossing powder, Transcendence Powder

There is still time to upload a card for this week’s sketch! It’s really super easy.

1) Create your card using the sketch...
2) Upload your card to either your blog, SCS gallery or Flicker account.
3) Go to the CPS blog and under Sunday’s post, you’ll find MR LINKY where you type in your name and then paste in the URL of where your picture is!

Hope you’ll join us! And if you have a moment, please check out my last two posts as they contain more takes on this week's CPS sketch!
