Peaceful Hearts

The other day I came across this display of flowers - it was sitting outside an office building and I made my daugther take a picture of it {yes, you should have seen the look she gave me!}. I loved the simplicity of it.

That in turn inspired me to take out this never used before retired set from The Angel Company (I guess all sets are now officially retired, eh?). I used a stamp from the Bingo set and Background Soup to give the yellow cardstock some interest. Took a heatgun to my bow and really crinkled it up!

This is my Hostess Club's last official get together and then we'll be restarting in the fall. If you are interested in coming over to my house once a month for a fun project and ordering just around $10, you'll have the chance to be the hostess with all of the rewards for one of those months! I have 3 spots opening up so please let me know if you are interested! {Or interested in setting up a long distance club for some of you and your friends! wink, wink!!}

So here is our card for this month - these two sets will be featured in the new catalog I believe and I really liked the donut the least of all of the images but I just fell in love with it all here on this card!



My friends thought the Kraft paper was designer paper - what fun to show them how to stamp in white and then color in with colored pencils. It really looks great in real life!

I found the directions over on SCS but I would say practice with a scrap of paper first - I had to adjust some of my folds to get it to lay right, but the second time around went so much easier! Also a quick tip: I marked my cut line with a light pencil line first, scored my horizontal lines and then cut the veritcal line last. Oh yes, my stair step portion was only 3" to give me a wider solid panel but you will see that you can play with these dimensions once you practice it first!

Have you met Theo?

So, I've had this little guy F O R E V E R and finally had the courage to ink him up. I used a card Mischelle (the owner of The Angel Company!) sent me as inspiration...for coloring Theo and even the color inspiration. I also followed this week's sketch which was perfect with this larger stamp image.

I hope you like it...it was scary and fun all at the same time. Something you don't usually equate with card making, eh?



I used the solid and outline dots from Background Soup to add a little interest to the main panel. All stamps, Copics and papers are from The Angel Company.

Principal Appreciation

This week is Teacher Appreciation week but now that my kids are in the upper grades, we really haven't done individual gifts anymore. The secretary at our school though asked if I could come up with some Principal Appreciation cards from the staff and this is what I came up for the male. Let me tell you that their mascot is Mustangs so I thought this retiring horse would be perfect - and I copied Chelsea's Alphabet panel idea!



See the detail of the "notepaper"? That's from the set, Just a Note and I love it for these kinds of accents. The horse is embossed and the mat is actually Kraft cardstock. I took these photos at night and the color is not quite right. Sorry!

Tune In Tuesday - Bright Colors

...on Wednesday! I am just one day behind schedule, but at least I got a card made! Yay! My son went back to school for the first time since breaking his arm and I know he must be a bit nervous, I know I am nervous! And, I only had to get up once in the night due to my daughter's coughing - the previous nights I was up for hours at a time. I am EXHAUSTED! The good news is that I ran my Turbo Tax error check and it seems, cross your fingers, that there are no glaring errors. Phew! Blah, blah, blah...show us the card! All stamps and papers from The Angel Company. Click to see enlarged. Ever since I saw this set in the Fall Supplement, I've wanted it! I guess I have a thing for chickens and thus roosters. Masterpiece...tag!

During my Masterpiece card class ... I also offered some tags to make and they were inspired by several talented ladies who posted tags for the Waltzingmouse Tag challenge.

Here's my take on one of them using the new reindeer from With His Glory...I've colored this reindeer several times finding just the "right" color scheme. The close up seems to magnify his flaws but all together it came out nicely, I think! I also used the polka dots from Background Soup and the vintage text comes from the Vintage Backgrounds set.

Juliet asked me on my last post, reference the Brown Bag special from The Angel Company. "What does 8 oz of stamps look like?" Good question! So...I got out my postal scale and began to stack...here is what one sample of what 8 oz could look like!




But please notice that there is no cling included in this special...I read it in the fine print this weekend so I don't want you to be disappointed! TAC does sell 8.5 x 11 sheets of cling for $5.50 each and if you buy a Brown Bag special...I will sell the cling sheets for just $4.50 each as my personal special! :)



These are retired stamps but I still love my retired stamps...here's a quick birthday card I made last week for my brother in law. I combined the retired cake image with the ever so up to date and cool Background Soup (polka dots) stamp set!

Quiet Time

It's just a bit after 8 am and the house is quiet...the kids don't start school for 3 weeks and I know I'll miss them when they are gone again but today, I'm just enjoying it!

I'm also trying to enjoy these last days of summer...since they too pass by too quickly! I colored this image and immediately cut it with my Labels Nestability. But then panic set in because I didn't know what to do with it next - I had cut it without having a plan in my head. Thankfully I found some inspiration on SCS...phew! Image saved...and I'm happy with how it all turned out.

Wrapping it up

It's been a fun two weeks visiting all the paricipants in the Embellish color challenge that I sponsored. I appreciate all of the visitors to my blog during that time - both the old faithful visitors and new friends alike! I hope I don't disappoint!

I couldn't wait for this stamp to arrive once I first spotted it in the catalog...but once it was time to ink it up, I was a bit intimidated as how to color it. I ended up sponging on some green ink and painting a little walnut stain across it. I wanted to keep the color scheme of the Embellish challenge and ended up sponging on some pink ink to the little bird. I saw a lot of pink birds on the submissions so that inspired me! That tone ended up not quite right so I watercolored a pink from my Tombow markers...whoa! Now the tone was way too dark, especially when I took a photo. So, I restamped the image, and found the perfect pink Tombow marker on my third try - colored, cut out and popped up the bird. (Everything else had already been glued down - including that stick which I picked up from one of the moms in the challenge who sent her 3 year old out for sticks - I loved that story!! I just wrapped mine in green paper because I needed more of a pop of green on my card). Once I took the picture, I realized how glaringly bright pink that bird now was so I grabbed my New Canvas palette ink and just dragged and dabbed at the bird until it was just right - 4th time is the charm!
