Spring Time

One more card to share using one of Heather's sketches from A Card A Day In May {yup, try saying that 10 times). I may add a sentiment in an oval on top of the black ribbon when the time comes to send out this card. I think it needs that!

This is another retiring stamp set from The Angel Company -- we're making room for lots of new, fun stuff! I stamped my tree with palette inks on watercolor pape and it gave me a nice texture. For the pink flowers, I made blobs of pink swirls and then heat embossed them with Transcedance powder and cut them out.

In a new light...

I always enjoy seeing the new releases from other stamp companies...let's face it, there are a LOT of choices out there! Often times I have something very similiar from The Angel Company, and really, price wise, their stamps are a good deal.

So, last week when I saw some fall tree ideas from PTI...I remembered my stamp set called Spring Time (from at least 2 years ago). It has two naked tree trunks and then a whole lot of stamps to decorate the tree! Not just for one season, but for ALL seasons!!

I'm not sure that I had ever even used the fall leaves but I was really inspired to play around with this set. I inked the leaves in Raw Sienna palette ink and then rolled the stamp in Orangerie palette ink. By masking with just a scrap piece of paper, I could place just one or two of the leaves where I wanted them.

With all the rain we've been having, the temperatures cooled down some this week. It was rather nice but I know in a few months from now I'll be longing for 90 degrees again, tee hee!

So Springy

Springtime is definately here! Our azaleas are in full bloom, there is lots of rain in the forecast, and my gardens are ready to start blooming. This card definately reflects that but sadly, I had a chance to stamp all day today and this all that I got accomplished, and it's really not that "wow". I did enjoy hanging out with the kids though and so I'm not going to feel guilty!!

If I could hold back time...

That's a good song, and how true. Whether it's watching my children growing up so fast right in front of me, or hanging on to those last days of summer...sometimes I really wish I could hold back time!

sniff, sniff. So, as we start shifting gears and think about Halloween and Christmas cards, I really wanted to make one more card that screamed, "summer!". My good friend, Julie, loaned me her bird punch and I finally got busy using it. There are some great tree trunks in the set, Spring Time, from The Angel Company and what I really like is that they work equally well as a branch. (A little secret here: some ladies have been know to use the 4 spots that I stamped twice in green for the leaves as cow spots! Don't you love it when you can use a stamp for different things? This is one versatile set, I tell you!)

More goodies to share

Last post I mentioned that I was participating in Jen Tapler's Stamping Out Alzheimer's event. It's really got my creative juices flowing and I tried my first downloadable template ever! Kelleigh Ratzlaff, a digi template creator, donated this template for particpants to use for free. I used some of my Costco's Mind Eye paper that I bought probably two years ago (I think it multiplies when I'm not looking because I've barely made a dent in it!). Since it's thinner, and comes with matching sheets, it was easy to layer and still work with.



It's so cute and really is the size of a cupcake so I couldn't resist taking a picture on a plate - just ignore the desk "mess" in the background - I was having a hard time finding the right lighting this morning!

For another sketch challenge, this card came together pretty quickly. I had some stamped images for these birds the last time I paper pieced them and I refound this week an old Sizzix die that I had with these smaller flowers...I'm so excited and I don't think I'd ever used them before. The dots are bit subtle on the yellow strip because I was so L A Z Y that I used a rolling pin to go over my Cuttlebug embossing plate versus dragging out my Big Kick. I mean really!
